So near and yet so far - the 2015 pedestrian/cycle bridge over the railway into Nottingham (Midland) is just a metre from offering step-free access between Trent Lane and the Sneinton Greenway (former trackbed of train line to Nottingham Lo ... [more]

Cycle only LILO junction with Poplar Street to/from Lower Parliament Street

Contraflow cycle lane on Park Row - North/South quiet route supposed to continue down Postern Street, but that is currently (July 2017) signed as a private road with part of it one-way.

Transition from shared use path (which itself is connected to a toucan crossing and the Castle Boulevard Super Highway) to Castle Road (now part of a North-South quiet route to the west of the city centre).

Shared use path sign on footpath at exit of New Castle House letting pedestrians know they are entering a shared use path.

Very useful link between the ring road and University Boulevard, alas it sees little maintenance meaning a path which is wide enough for comfortably passing pedestrians and cyclists in winter is barley wide enough for a single cyclists or p ... [more]

Bus Stop bypass, Nottingham

While not perfect, the change of fence type here to this mesh type has made just pinch point much more tolerable and massively increased forward visibility.

Automatic light controlled crossing of A52 sliproads

Cycle route turns left here - Greenfield Street was changed to be exit only here making this turning much safer. Alas, a lack of lane markings and position of No Entry sign make this an unnecessary pinch point. However cycling is pr ... [more]

Cycleway crossing of road junction to retail park - no daft buttons to press, separate phase in advance of on-coming left turning traffic - alas near daily obstruction of the crossing caused by traffic coming from right turning left process ... [more]

Side road cycle-way priority- obvious priority. Not a huge fan of the surface material as it can be rather slippy in wet weather, but the visibility is excellent, reinforcing the priority.

Bus Stop Bypass Nottingham - more of this sort of infra please!

The contraflow cycle provision on Station Street is very welcome, but it would be useful if cars/minicabs heading the other way knew that contraflow cycling existed - far too often vehicles heading east drive on the old west bound traffic l ... [more]

Following on from #91646 you get this - only once you are in the right turn cycle lane can you see the lights have now been bagged over - no advanced warning, and now no idea when it's safe to turn into Station Street.

July 2017 changes to the road layout on London Road near the BBC Island (on a stretch notorious for pavement cycling) have seen this "infra" installed - firstly you need to somehow get over to Lane 4, and as so many cars were trying to use ... [more]

The bottom two big track signs are the ones to follow if you want to complete the big track circuit.

The turning to remain on the big track. Squeeze to get a two wheeled child trailer through.

Fork in the road under the A52. Fork to the left Is the Nottingham big track. The surface is good at this point but leading up to this point it is not so great. And furthur down the big track heading south-west the track deteriorates.

Cycle parking at the back of an industrial estate. I don't think I have ever seen them used.

The way has been blocked due to construction work.

Great fun though not a good track for road bikes

Side entrance to Nottingham station - plenty of space for covered cycle parking

Parking for two-wheelers at Nottingham station - rather over-elaborate cycle stands

It's not closed, it's just diverted! But what about cyclists?
